Jamaican Sunday Dinner Favourite!

There’s no doubt that Carrot Juice shines as a Jamaican Sunday Dinner favourite! ‘Sunday dinner’ in Jamaica is a special event. An extra special meal for the family. So of course, every special meal deserves a special beverage to match. That ‘special beverage’ often comes in the form of juicing fresh fruits or vegetables to ‘top-off’ a hearty meal. And that’s where this Jamaican Carrot Juice recipe with Lime or Milk comes in.

Jamaican Carrot Juice is a big part of Sunday dinner tradition. Just the thought of Carrot Juice takes me back to my childhood. I can recall my mother in the kitchen all day on a Sunday, pouring her heart out into every meal. My sister Marie and I would often help to prepare juices like Limeade, Beetroot Juice, Soursop Juice, or Carrot Juice. Growing up it would be the children’s role to wash, peel, and cut the carrots as well as being the taste-testers. What made my mother’s carrot juice special, was the two deliciously refreshing ways she made it. Some Sundays we would enjoy our Carrot Juice with Lime, and at other times we had it with milk. But one thing’s for sure, no matter what version we got, it was always delightful! Rest in perfect peace mommy (July 2020), we love you endlessly.

With these authentic Jamaican Carrot Juice recipes, I’m able to share sweet memories of my Jamaican childhood with my family, and now, with you. This recipe will have your family and friends enjoying carrots in a different way while experiencing the flavourful and delicious taste of Jamaica.

A delicious drink for every occasion

I find that Carrot Juice with lime goes well with seafood and poultry dishes while Carrot Juice with milk compliments Curry Goat and Oxtail dinners. However, the choice of which version to make with your meals is completely yours. If you try them both (which I highly recommend), you’ll develop a taste for what version works best with your favourite meals.

Is carrot juice good for weight loss?

The simple answer is – Yes, carrot juice on its own is great for weight loss. However, the most effective Carrot Juice recipe for weight loss would exclude all sweeteners and fat. Carrots contain very little fat and protein, so simply using water to juice it would make a great beverage for weight loss.

Please ensure though, that you consult your health-care provider before going on any kind of weight-loss diet.

Benefits of carrot juice

Growing up we were told to eat carrots as they are good for our eyes, and that is true.  You would be happy to know that there are several benefits of carrots juice. Carrots are an excellent source of beta carotene, fiber, vitamin K1, potassium, and antioxidants. Beta carotene is responsible for the bright colours of carrots and is essential for eye health. In addition to caring for your eyes, enjoy your carrot juice knowing it’s great for reducing your blood pressure and has anti-cancer properties.
